Rosati started her professional career in Rochester, Minnesota in 1985. KTTC-TV initially employed her as a general-assignment reporter. Rosati was elevated to co-anchor and producer of newscasts at 6 p.m. 10 p.m. just a decade after. Rosati then joined WGRZ-TV located in Buffalo, New York, where she anchored the newscasts at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts as well as reported on general assignment. In 1989, she was the local co-host of the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon together with Barry Lillis. In 1990, she was the host of the show First Thing in the morning at WMAQ in Chicago. In the morning, Rosati co-hosted Chicago Live along with Warner Saunders from 1991 to 1992. After the controversial hire of Jerry Springer as a commentator, Rosati began anchoring the afternoon news. In May 1997, Rosati was promoted as co-anchor to NBC 5's 10 p.m. newscast. It made her the longest-running late-night news anchor in Chicago.
